How to achieve "Blooming" when using a pour over coffee filter

Blooming and making coffee aren’t terms you would usually expect to find in the same sentence. Not to worry. You haven’t accidently happened onto a gardening forum or a coffee cultivation tutorial. Blooming refers to the process of allowing coffee to release its flavor. Following this method will allow your coffee to bloom when using the pour over method for preparing coffee. Begin preparations by placing a paper filter in the top, filter portion of the coffee maker. Add your favorite coffee. Heat your water separately on the stove top or in a microwave safe container. When the water is near boiling, pour a small amount over the coffee. This small step allows the hot water to come into contact with the grinds and allows the coffee to bloom and release into the water all the flavor contained in the grinds. Add the rest of the hot water and enjoy!
